Now here is some great country music.
Tim Culpepper sings the kind of country I really enjoy. He has a traditional sound, which is actually kind of unique in today’s country landscape. Tim has a new song and it’s climbing the charts. Check out the music video for Ghost.
Ghost – Tim Culpepper
After hearing this song a few times I’ll be careful with my interpretation. My first feeling is the song is simply about a man that has lost a love. Things didn’t work out and they moved along. He is still thinking about her all the time, though. He lives with her ghost day and night. Her memory haunts him and he can’t figure out how to get past it.
My guess is the song is about a breakup, but it could be about something darker such as the actual death of the woman in the song. I’m not sure, but I don’t think things get quite that dark in the song. It’s up for interpretation.
The music in Ghost is really something I like. It sounds like it was produced back in the early ’90s. I can hear the influence of Mark Chesnutt and Tracy Byrd in the song. The vocals are good as well. Tim has a classic country voice. He’s the kind of artist that doesn’t add much fluff to his songs. He sings about simple things and does it in a simple way. I respect that very much.
The country landscape today is more pop and rock. There is even a little rap creeping into country music. The likes of Alan Jackson and others struggle to find the same heights on the charts as they used to. That’s ok. Things change. But it’s good to hear the traditional artists like Tim Culpepper from time to time. I think he has a chance to find success with his own little niche in today’s country world.
If Ghost is the first indication of what he’s capable of then I’m excited to hear his entire first album. It should be a good one and likely one of my favorites of the year.

Great song! Nothing like “real” country music.. Thanks for posting!
Thanks for the introduction to Tim Culpepper and his classic country music song “GHOST”. His influences have been my favorite true country entertainers from the past and still my favorites today. Their music style and heartfelt songs live on.
Now, we have Tim to continue the tradition and may he find the true success that his idols have found. I love his music and I hope someday to have the opportunity of attending one of his concerts.
