Tim McGraw has new music.
And when Tim has new music people get excited. This time there is a little controversy around Tim’s new music. He is arguing in court with his label, Curb Records, over how to properly release the new music. From what I gather Tim needed to deliver one more album to fulfill his contract. He says he delivered it over a year ago. Curb says he delivered it too soon.
I say…let’s hear the music!
Anyway, here is the new song from Tim that’s making the rounds a bit.
Listen to Better Than I Used To Be by Tim McGraw
Better Than I Used To Be – Tim McGraw
Now that’s a great country song.
Now to a small few of you that song may sound familiar. Way back over a year ago it was actually one of the very first songs I wrote about here on Country Music Life.
One of my very favorite artists, Sammy Kershaw sang Better Than I Used To Be for his album released last summer. I liked Sammy’s version. He always brings plenty of country twang to a good country song. And that’s what this track is – a great country song.
Tim’s version is top notch as well. And because it’s Tim McGraw I’m sure the song will get plenty of attention.
Over the last few years Tim has been expanding his career. He’s moved into acting. He’s been as successful as ever on the touring schedule bringing in millions from his concerts. He’s been selling tons of records and releasing plenty of hits.
When Tim looks back in interviews he knows he made plenty of mistakes in his past. He knows he’s probably better than he used to be even just a few years ago.
But aren’t we all?
Isn’t the point of life to get a little better each day?
I think so anyway and I think that’s what Better Than I Used To Be is all about. The song is about understanding how life works – you make mistakes and you learn from them the best you can. You improve on a few things while realizing you’re going to stumble a few times along the way. You try to hurt as few people as you can while loving the ones your’re close to the best you can.
This is a great song. I loved Sammy’s version and I love hearing Tim sing it as well.
