Top Country Songs 2011 Part 17

20. My Hometown – Uncle Kracker

Uncle Kracker is making quite the name for himself on the country charts over the last few years. The former Adult Contemporary star now has a little niche in the country world. Kracker came from the rap background and always gives off the tough guy attitude, but most of his songs have had some sentimentality to them. I’m not sure why he always puts on the tough guy facade, but if that makes him happy we can all roll with it. This track is another great country song mixed with a little rock. It’s another one of the best from the last year.

19. That Girl – Kevin Fowler

Kevin Fowler has been one of the most successful Texans in country music history, but he really never broke out in the mainstream. I’m not entirely sure why because songs like That Girl are really good. The melody is killer and the theme is approachable from just about anyone in the country audience. If you haven’t heard this one yet you need to check it out. Kevin deserves to be included here for the best songs of 2011 and the world deserves to hear more music from Kevin Fowler.

18. Ours – Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift just keeps the hits coming. She debuted this one just a month or so ago at the award show. The crowd went nuts after Taylor had the guts to get on stage with just her guitar, her voice and her self confidence. Can this girl do anything wrong? She’s ruling the country world right now and her fans are getting amped for her next album in 2012. Taylor Swift had the biggest country tour in 2011 and some of the biggest songs as well. This one is on its way to becoming another huge hit.

17. Million Dollar View – Trace Adkins

Trace Adkins just won’t quit. The man left his former record label about a year ago and has been teamed with Toby Keith now and it’s turned out to be a good partnership. Trace had his biggest hit in a couple years in 2011 and he’s looking to follow that up with another one in Million Dollar View. The song is catchy and sweet. There is nothing better than having a great view of your family and friends right at home. The song should be a knockout smash heading into the new year.

16. Better Than I Used To Be – Tim McGraw

This would probably classify as the surprise hit the last couple weeks. Tim spent 2011 out on tour in support of an album that was never released. Tim won a small court battle just a couple weeks ago where the judge ruled he could leave his contract with Curb and record wherever he wanted. Curb promptly planned the release of the album that Tim has already supported out on tour and released the first single with Better Than I Used To Be. It’s a shame things couldn’t be worked out better for this song. As always there are probably three truths to the matter: Curb’s, Tim’s and the actual truth. Either way we still get a great song. I loved the version Sammy Kershaw released a couple years back and Tim does a great job as well.
