Top Country Songs of 2011 Part 2
20. Something To Do With Your Hands – Sarah Darling
Sarah Darling hasn’t had a charting single yet. She’s back with her fourth effort though in 2011 and it’s a good one. Something To Do With Your Hands is sexy, playful, and overall a great country song that could earn her enough attention to breakthrough in the country game. Sarah comes from the independent label Black River Music Group. It’s hard for the artists on the small labels to break out with hits, but it’s been done before. All it takes is a solid song and this is a great one from Sarah Darling.
19. Crazy Girl – Eli Young Band
With just a couple hits on their hands Eli Young Band is still looking to really break through on the country charts. The band released a new single and video this year with Crazy Girl. The song showcases the band’s cool harmonies with plenty of punch in the chorus. The song may not be a huge hit relative to other country artists, but for the Eli Young Band this could be another solid single that keeps things moving in the right direction. It’s another stepping stone on the way to success for these guys.
18. Love Don’t Run – Steve Holy
It’s been a few years since Steve Holy has seen the country top 40, but that’s been the way things have been going for the country singer since his first single way back in 1999. The hits have been few and far between, but the latest track Love Don’t Run could be that next hit for the singer. It’s a song about a couple fighting to keep their relationship together. They know they need to lay it all out on the line and finally come clean on everything. It’s a passionate song that will have you singing along by the second time the chorus kicks in.
17. If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away – Justin Moore
Justin Moore had the crazy tag country artists get sometimes of being “too country”? Too country? I’m not even sure what that means. Justin Moore has the twang and it’s authentic. Over the last few years Justin has been slowly making a name for himself and he’s looking to continue his run of success with the first track from his sophomore album If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away. The song has risen quickly on the charts and seems to be another surefire hit for Justin. The track is a slow one from the country newcomer and it suits him well. Lots of emotion and passion.
16. Live A Little – Kenny Chesney
Kenny Chesney has been a machine over the past decade. Last year Kenny released his latest studio album and he’s already at the 3rd single. Live A Little fits right in with Kenny’s previous efforts over the past ten years. The song is about slowing things down and enjoying the good things for a breath. Kenny doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all as 2011 rolls through. He’s got a hit album on his hands and perhaps another top track with Live A Little. After a short break just a year ago it seems Kenny is ready to kick off the summer of 2011 with a big tour including bit stadium shows with one right here in my home state at the home of the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Go Kenny!
