Top Country Songs of 2011 Part 20
5. A-Ok – Neal McCoy
You probably won’t hear this song on the radio, but Neal is the man. This track is great and it deserves to be heard. There is nothing special or crazy about it. The song is just a great simple country song with a great melody and a great performance from McCoy. The song does have some added interest since it was produced by a couple of folks you might have heard of – Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton. Neal is back and I wish he could get a little recognition as one fo the best of all time.
4. A Woman Like You – Lee Brice
Lee Brice has a smash on his hands. This song is one of those songs that sounds fresh and new, but also sounds familiar. This situation is really something a lot of guys can relate to and women probably can as well. We spend all that time out on the town messing around, but really we’re just looking for the woman of our dreams and when we find her we’re ready to settle down and get on with living.
3. Reality – Kenny Chesney
The man is unstoppable. Kenny Chesney was busy this year touring the biggest stadiums in the US. He even had time to release some of the biggest hits of the past year and one of those looks like it’s going to become a number one hit. Reality is just this super catchy, Mellencamp-type hit that leaves you wanting more. I’m ready to escape reality and head over to Lambeau next year to see Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney live in concert. Talk about a great show coming up next year.
2. Over You – Miranda Lambert
This song has a lot of emotion. There is love, anger and sadness all wrapped up into one song and Miranda really performs it well. The track takes on even more meaning for Miranda since she co-wrote it with her new husband and fellow country star Blake Shelton. The song is just getting started on the charts, but I’m sure it’s heading straight for number one on the charts. You can’t beat country music like this. It’s a great showcase of talent and an artist at the top of her game.
1. You Don’t Know Her Like I Do – Brantley Gilbert
Talk about a breakout year. Brantley Gilbert went to a new label, re-released his sophomore album and took his proper debut single all the way to number one on the country charts. Now, the rocking country star is taking a cue from the rock band formula of the ’80s. After the rocking track to debut he’s coming back with the heartfelt ballad about the girl in his life. I can’t get enough of this song and I think it’s well on its way to becoming another number one hit for Brantley Gilbert. The man is on fire heading into 2012.
