Top Country Songs of 2011 Part 3

15. Georgia Clay – Josh Kelley

Josh Kelley Georgia ClayThe old brother of the Lady Antebellum singer experienced some pop success back in the early ’00s and now he’s ready to take things to the country world. His latest single Georgia Clay is a throwback song to the days of teenhood. Sitting on the backs of tailgates kicking dirt with your best pals. It’s the way life was and is today for those that are young, in love, and looking forward to nothing, but the weekend. It’s a great track for a talented artist.

14. Ooh La La – Steel Magnolia

Steel MagnoliaLove at first sight is a beautiful thing. Steel Magnolia has been attracting much attention the past few months and they have things still going strong with Ooh La La. The song is about seeing someone and knowing they’re made for you. Having the guts to walk up and say ‘hi’ is another matter, but for those that have what it takes the introduction can be well worth the risk. Steel Magnolia seems to be a rising duo in country music. They make good music with a fun sound.

13. God Bless Saturday – Kid Rock

Kid Rock Born FreeKid Rock is known as the last of a dying breed. The rockstar life is no longer seen as cool and hip these days, but Kid Rock loves to party and have a good time and he doesn’t hide it in any way. The latest album from Kid is full of great tracks including the latest single God Bless Saturday. Rock and roll has always been about the weekends. With country artists dipping into rock more these days Kid has been able to find success on the country charts. We’ll see if this track continues getting play on rock stations and a few country stations over the summer.

12. Hard Road – Steve Azar

Steve Azar Slide HereAfter a few years off the charts Steve Azar came back in 2010 with a top 30 song. Now he’s looking to keep the new momentum going in 2011 with the song Hard Road. It’s another slower song for the country artist from the delta, but one that will get in your head. I’ve been listening to this song about love and never taking the easy way out for a few days now and I like it more and more with each play. Sometimes relationships aren’t an easy road. That’s what Steve is singing about and it’s connecting with a lot of country fans.

11. Heartache – Jamey Johnson

Jamey Johnson Guitar SongJamey Johnson probably won’t be known for having big hit after big hit, but he’s put out great music on all of his albums up to this point. The modern day country outlaw has a new single out in 2011 and it’s another great country song. Heartache sees Jamey telling the sad story of love from the point of view of the heartache. The perspective makes for an interesting song. The cool driving sound of the song make this track great. I don’t know if it’ll be a big hit, but it’s a great song Jamey’s fans will surely love.
