Country Music! 2011!
We’re only three months into the year, but I had to start the countdown of the top country songs of 2011. I thought we could look at the top 25 songs every three months until we had the top 100 songs of the year.
Let’s get it kicked off wit the first five on the list of the top country songs of 2011…
Top Country Songs of 2011
25. Bleed Red – Ronnie Dunn
A big story in 2011 was the first solo release from Ronnie Dunn. The song was Bleed Red. Right after the song was released curiosity pushed the song up the charts. The quality of the track will determine if it keeps climbing this year. I understand it had to be difficult for Ronnie to pick a track that wouldn’t be criticized. In the 20 years of Brooks & Dunn they covered just about every kind of song that could be covered. Bleed Red is a good song, but just a good song. Nonetheless it’s a good start to a new career for the country legend.
24. Let Your Love Speak – Emerson Drive
Emerson Drive is back this year with a new US single. After a few big hits in the early and mid ’00s the band went back to their home country of Canada and kept ringing up hits. I’m not sure if Let Your Love Speak will make it to the country charts in the US, but the song is deserving. The track fits ED perfectly. The band was great at putting out country pop during the pop influenced ’00s in country music. If you like good hooks, good lyrics, and plenty of upbeat country music you’ll like this song. I do.
23. A Little Less Comfortable – Carter’s Chord
Carter’s Chord has been struggling to really breakthrough on the country charts. They just released what I think is a great song. A Little Less Comfortable is about a woman wanting more from her relationship. If you’ve been in a relationship for a while, perhaps a few years things tend to get comfortable. All this woman is asking for is a little less comfort between her and her lover. She wants the passion back. Before they grew so close there was a time when things were on edge. It’s the excitement and the adventure of the new that gets the blood flowing. We could all use a little less comfort now and then.
22. Give Into Me – Faith Hill
The movie Country Strong was released last fall and the soundtrack was released back then as well. It wasn’t until this year though that Faith Hill’s version of Give Into Me became a minor hit at country radio. The song was known as the love song between two of the movie’s stars, but Faith’s version caught on with country fans too. Faith’s beautiful voice is perfect for this passionate song. If you liked the sultry, seductive songs Faith has done in the past you’ll love Give Into Me. It’s another classic from one of country’s best vocalists and performers. Country music needs Faith Hill. Hopefully this track was just a preview of what she has in store later on in 2011 for fans.
21. Brown Chicken Brown Cow – Trace Adkins
Most of what I’ve read regarding Brown Chicken Brown Cow has been negative. For some reason critics and even a few fans can’t put aside all the seriousness and just have fun with a song. Trace Adkins has thrown caution to the wind before in favor of a ridiculous song meant for nothing more than a good laugh. He’s trying to do it again with this track and so far I’d say he’s succeeding. The track is slowly working its way up the charts. The accompanying video is great as well. Country folks love to party and have a good time on the farm and in the barn. Ain’t nothing wrong with that and if you have a problem well…
