Top Country Videos of 2011

August 25, 2011 by Dayne Shuda 1 Comment

We’re a little over halfway through the year so I thought it’d be cool to look back on the top videos of 2011…so far. We’ll come back at the end of the year and add 20 more videos to the list to recap the entire year.

These are the videos I thought were cool and interesting from 2011. There is really no objective thought behind it. These are just the videos I thought were the best.

Share your thoughts. Disagree. Agree.

Or just sit back and watch them all again and enjoy some great country music.

Top Country Music Videos of 2011

Country music videos have come a long way since the ’80s when things were a little shaky. The picture quality is high. The small stories are engaging and for the most part the artists hit home with just about each video. There are quite a few winners and picking the best of the best was difficult. I’m sure I forgot a few (another good reason to keep a backup list for the end of the year). Be sure to remind me of the ones I missed.

20. Country Girl (Shake It For Me) Luke Bryan

Luke Bryan took a chance with this song. It’s way different than anything else on radio right now. The video has plenty of girls shaking and dancing and really that makes for a good video no matter what. It had to be included on this countdown plus the song has been one of the biggest hits of 2011 so far.

19. Am I The Only One – Dierks Bentley

After a little try at Bluegrass Dierks came back to country (not that the genres are that different) with some of his classic style. Am I The Only One sees Dierks still wanting to head out on the town on Friday night. The trouble is all of his buddies are shacked up and settled down. Eventually Dierks finds a good woman to spend the evening with, though, and they part all night long in this video.

18. Knee Deep – Zac Brown Band with Jimmy Buffett

Zac Brown and his boys were ready to head back to the islands this summer with Knee Deep. This time they included Jimmy Buffett and brought all of country music down there with them. The song is catchy as everything else these guys release. The video follows along familiar settings as a weird, but fun beach theme about some weird guy. It’s a great song and great to see Jimmy back on CMT. Hell, every country artists these days is doing what Jimmy’s been doing for over 30 years.

17. Fake I.D. – Big & Rich with Gretchen Wilson

After a few years doing the solo thing it appears as if Big & Rich are back. They included their buddy Gretchen Wilson and things are back to rocking…country style. Their comeback song fits on the soundtrack to the upcoming release of Footloose and the track is a winner. It’s rocking and really gets your juices flowing. It’s a great party song and one you’d expect from country’s most rocking duo.

16. If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away – Justin Moore

Justin Moore was thought of as a one-time hit from his first album. People actually thought he was too country for country radio. He’s proving those folks wrong with his second album. The first single nearly topped the charts and the video was just as good. Justin is going to be around a while. He seems like a hard working guy with plenty to offer and his videos have been great.

15. Just Fishin’ – Trace Adkins

After a couple singles from his last album it seemed like Trace was looking for a real breakthrough hit. He’s on Toby Keith’s label and it was time to start producing. Trace came out with a big smash hit with Just Fishin’. He brought in his own daughter for the touching video. This video and song are perfect for what country is all about. The music allows artists to really age well. Here we have a guy singing about just what a middle aged man should be singing about – love and family.

14. Hell Yeah, I Like Beer – Kevin Fowler

This was a bit of a surprise a few weeks ago when it debuted on CMT. The song actually spent a few days as the most played video on CMT.com. For Kevin Fowler it’s just another song to really hit home with his audience. His fans love the country lifestyle and that’s what Kevin sings about. It’s a great video to play on a Saturday night as you’re getting ready to head out with friends.

13. Let It Rain – David Nail

This has been one of my favorites of the year. The song came out early on in 2011 and has been slowing making its way up the charts. For David Nail it’s been a great lead in to his upcoming sophomore album. The video follows the story of the song to the letter. There is great imagery and the video really brings to life the emotions from the song. The only downside is my girlfriend is always wondering why I keep listening to it over and over.

12. Remind Me – Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood

This was one of the more beautiful and romantic videos of the year. Carrie looks great like the country queen she is. Brad was probably happy was a country guy could be pairing himself with one of country’s superstars. The song has been a huge hit and the video was out of the park as well. It’s been a fan favorite thus far. It was a no brainer smash hit from the start pairing two of country’s superstars together on a great song.

11. Made In America – Toby Keith

Toby debuted this track a while back on the CMT Music Award show. The crowd loved it at the time. The theme is recurring for Toby, bu the music is really great. The melody is awesome and the video has all the images of Americana you’d expect. It’s a solid video to go along with a great song. Many people can relate to having pride in their neighbors these days and that’s why this song and video have been big hits for Toby in 2011.
