Martie and Emily of the Dixie Chicks have released new music.
As a duo the two are known as the Court Yard Hounds. Their debut album Court Yard Hounds recently debuted in the top ten on the Billboard 200 (although mysteriously not on the Country Album Chart, but the Rock Chart). The two Dixie Chicks minus Natalie formed the duo as a way to release music they’ve created over the past year. Sister Emily Robison wrote much of the material based on her divorce from fellow country artist Charlie Robison.
The sisters are still together as the Dixie Chicks with Natalie. In fact, the story goes that Natalie wasn’t ready to record music as she cared for her family so she encouraged Emily and Martie to record on their own as a duo. It sounds like the entire group will continue performing and recording as the Dixie Chicks.
In the meantime though the Court Yard Hounds are making a splash on the music scene. The album is receiving critical praise and fans of all genres are buying the album and the songs. The two sisters have always had the talent as well as the ability to take a common life story and mix it with catchy hooks.
It’s great when talented artists expand their creative boundaries with new music. It’s good for the artists and great for the fans as they can take in even more great music.
Expect to hear more from both the Court Yard Hounds and the Dixie Chicks in the future.
