Wade Bowen is a Texas guy with his own style and a great new song.
These boys from Texas break out on the mainstream every once in a while. Wade Bowen has connections to guys like Cody Canada and Pat Green. Now he’s looking to take his local show to the bigger stages of the national country scene. Check out the latest single Saturday Night…
Saturday Night – Wade Bowen
Where do you find yourself on Saturday night? Most weekends, young folks are out on the town with friends. Guys and gals are looking to have some fun and possibly meet the love of their lives. I think it’s mostly about having fun, though, but you never know when that special person will come around.
For Wade Bowen, though, Saturday Night has an entirely different meaning. Wade plays the narrator in the song. He’s out at the local tavern. Everybody around him is having a great time, whooping it up and throwing down. He’s sitting there at the bar with his beer. He can’t get over the reasons his woman has just dumped him. He’s all alone with his beer now. He can’t figure out why everybody is so happy. What’s so great about Saturday night anyway?
It’s a great twist on a song. It reminds me of Red Light by David Nail a little bit. Sometimes being dumped catches you completely off guard. You don’t know when it’s going to happen even if you really do feel the relationship is not going in a good direction. The break up can catch you off guard and you might even find yourself out in the bar trying to have a good time, but sitting alone with your drink and watching everyone else enjoy themselves.
Every once in a while these Texas singers will find a hit single and see it take off in the mainstream. I remember when Pat Green broke out with a few hit singles about ten years ago. I was a big fan. The great part about it was going back into his extensive catalog and listening to all the music he had been releasing in Texas for years. He was new to me, but a veteran in music to everybody down in the great state of Texas.
Wade Bowen has the same kind of background. He’s been making a huge name for himself down in Texas. I’m excited to listen to some of his back catalog songs to get a feel for who he really is. Saturday Night is a great song and I’m excited to see what else there is in his collection.
I’m thinking Saturday Night could crack the top 40 on the mainstream country singles charts. That would be a pretty good debut for a guy that’s really been around for quite some time. The song is catchy. It’s unique and it has the different perspective about a certain situation.
Saturday Night isn’t something everybody always looks forward to. Sometimes you’re out there feeling lonely and depressed. It’s something you don’t normally think about when it comes to Saturday Night.
Great song.
