I don’t know what it is with that Williams family, but we’re on the third generation now and we’re still getting amazing music. Holly Williams is the daughter of Hank Williams Jr. She’s been releasing music for a while now and has put out some really great songs. Here is a live performance from the Opry. I think it’s one of her best.
Waiting On June – Holly Williams
You really won’t find country songs like this on the radio anymore. This is more country in the traditional sense than anything that’s been played in years and I love it. The simple melody in the background and the great story in the lyrics. It’s a love story that you don’t hear anymore. Plenty of people meet while they’re working hard and they keep things simple for their entire lives.
This song isn’t over the top in anyway, but I think it’s beautiful and something pretty special. It brings back memories of people that have impacted your life like your grandparents and parents. You kind of feel like you’re on the journey with them and you feel like you’re part of something special.
It’s too bad that there isn’t room for music like this on country radio anymore. You can still right songs about all the great images in life besides tailgates and trucks. I like the idea of fields and grandma’s kitchen. And you can never go wrong when you mention bacon in a country song.
I love it. What do you think?
