An album for the ages at this point.
How about this?
Billy Currington has kind of slowly built one of the best albums in country history.
Summer Forever came out a little over two years ago. Since then it’s had four singles. Three went to #1 on the chart and now it looks like Billy and his team are going for a possible fourth number one from the album.
That is not a common occurrence in country music. I bet it’s happened less than a dozen times before.
Although I think Luke Bryan just had six number ones from his latest album.
Anyway, Billy’s album has great songs and this could be another top hit.
Wake Me Up – Billy Currington
I thought for sure they might release Nowhere Town as a single. Either that or they would go with a song from a new album.
But Wake Me Up is a good one too. A really good one. It’s got a progressive sound and that has really been hitting for Billy with this album. His fans are liking this style.
The song is about a guy that has a girl in his life. It sounds like it’s a new love possibly. He’s sensing that the girl thinks that maybe she’s bothering him a little too much.
But the guy is feeling the same feelings. He’s telling her that if she ever feels like she has to call him to talk or whatever that she can wake up him and do it.
This one sounds like a hit to me. It’s got all the ingredients.
I’m curious if Billy will have new music for next year. He kind of does his own thing.
But in the meantime we can enjoy this song and the others on this great album.
Chart Estimate: #1
