Love this one.
Trace Adkins is 55 this year. That’s not usually the age bracket for having hits at country radio. But Trace seems determined to make a go of it.
He signed with Wheelhouse about a year or so ago and it seemed like a good fit. They’ve put out a couple singles up to this point, but they haven’t been able to hit.
This song seems different, though. This one sounds like something that people will connect with. Check it out and see what you think.
Watered Down – Trace Adkins
There is some depth to this one. Trace has been through a lot in his life. He would probably be the first one to say that it’s mostly self-inflicted. He’s burned the candle at both ends for a long time.
This song seems to be a little reflective on life. It’s about a guy looking back on some crazy things. There were some choices that probably were the opposite of the right ones. But don’t we all have regrets about choices in life? We can’t get them all right.
And some of us seem to repeat mistakes. That can drive others crazy, but it’s just the way some people are wired.
The feeling in this song is that we do change in some ways as we get older, but we also stay the same. In this case, Trace is a guy that’s still the same in many ways, but he’s just a little more watered down.
I really like this one. It’s a very country song. I hope modern country radio can appreciate this one.

Excellent review, Dayne, thank you for doing justice to this multi-talented artist! Age is only a number, and Trace is still pertinent in today’s genre. I hope the radio stations will recognize that and start playing this amazing song, full of self-truths. New album comes out March 31st, and I, for one, can’t wait to get my hands on it.
