What God Wants For Christmas by Darius Rucker (@dariusrucker)

Darius Rucker

Here is an original holiday tune from Darius Rucker.

Darius Rucker released his first Christmas album earlier this year. It’s got some of the classics on it, but it also has a couple originals that Darius helped to write. And one of those new songs is right here. I think it fits right in there with those classic holiday songs you’ve come to love.

What God Wants For Christmas – Darius Rucker

I wasn’t sure what the angle would be on this one from the title. And it kind of surprised me a little. The song is about a guy who is wondering what God would want for Christmas. The thought sparks as he’s thinking about the people out there that have been putting lists together for what they want for Christmas.

Christmas is a great time of year, but it can also bring about the selfish side of life. We think about the material things we want sometime, but we also think about even the other things we want in life. Those things might be great, but this song is a little reminder that it’s not all about what we want and usually we’re more happy if we think about the things that others want. And if we think about the things that really matter in life, which are rarely material.

Great song here. I think it’s one of the best original Christmas songs in a few years. Christmas job, Darius. I think you have a hit on your hands.

What do you think?

What a great song. Thank you, Darius. I was moved by the words in this song, along with watching the children in the hospital.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.
