One of the most exciting artists in country music right now is Steve Moakler, He made a pretty good sized splash last year with his song Suitcase. He was busy playing that thing all over including at the Opry.
I think it got a little buzz at radio. I know I heard it all the time on SiriusXM. My wife loved that song and dove into his music.
Now it looks like Steve has some new songs out for 2017. The first is a cover of Missing You, a song from the ’80s, but we’re going to key in on the other one that I think is a new original.
Wheels – Steve Moakler
Steve has a really unique style about him. He’s got that singer songwriter thing going on. That’s pretty big in Nashville right now.
He’s got a little soft rock element to him. A little John Mayer. There is that introspective nature that Mayer has that Steve explores on this song.
From what I gather this song is about a guy looking at life and trying to make sense of it all. The comparison is that sometimes life feels like a set of wheels. The faster you run the faster the wheels spin and the harder it is to keep up.
Things are always moving. We’re always in motion.
But the thing with the song is that it’s kind of laid back and looking things over. It’s a positive spin on life and it just has a really good and catchy melody.
I like this one.
