Joey And Rory When I'm Gone

A sad song, but also a happy song in a way.

Like many, I’ve been following along with Rory Feek’s blog at This Life I Live.

Rory is half the duo Joey + Rory. They’ve had a couple songs on the charts over the years with their style of traditional country music. They’ve made millions of fans and have a special place in the hearts of those people.

If you’ve been following along on the blog then you know that the last few months have been very difficult for the couple, their family and friends.

If you haven’t heard then I’ll let you alone to check out the blog.

But in the meantime I heard about an effort from the fans of Joey + Rory to get one of their previous singles back on the charts.

When I’m Gone – Joey + Rory

The song is about a woman speaking to her husband about how he’ll be alright when she’s gone. And in this sense the song is speaking about death.

It’s something that we all have in our future, but it doesn’t mean that it’s easy to lose someone. In fact, it can be one of the hardest things we go through in life.

I didn’t review the song in 2012 when the song was first released. I lost track of Joey + Rory around that time, but have reviewed a couple of their songs. They just have a really great style that isn’t around anywhere else in country music and it hasn’t been for a long time.

But their popularity proves that fans still yearn for music like this. And that is special.

I hope this song gets to number one.

CML Points: 90/100
