A little rock in our country with this one.
Clare Cunningham has a great style. She’s definitely got some rock and roll in her blood. I think she’s from Ireland if I’m reading the right bio.
Sometimes I’ll see the question out there wondering why country music isn’t popular in the UK or in other areas of the world especially in Europe.
I do think there are people all over the world that love country music. Maybe not as much as pop and rock music, but definitely quite a few. It’s just music about everyday life. The stories of life. And whether you’re in the US or the UK or wherever the stories are pretty similar.
Struggle and success. Ups and downs.
Check out this new one.
Whiskey Talks – Clare Cunningham
Let’s start with the sound and style of this one. Definitely an edge. Definitely some rock influence. In fact, that guitar at the end has me thinking about the hair metal rock from the late ’80s. And that’s an era in music that I love. So many great catchy rock songs that became huge in pop music. You know you remember them.
And even in recent years that sound has been making it’s way into country music. If you like Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Brantley Gilbert and even Brad Paisley and Keith Urban you know they liked the ’80s rock scene.
I’m still digging into the lyrics of this song from Clare. There’s something going on. A drinking song. Comparing whiskey to some struggle in life. A breakup maybe?
You’ll have to let me know what you think.
