Julie Roberts

Julie Roberts is as country as it gets today.

Let’s check in with Julie Roberts. She’s been a throwback artist in country music for some time. She kind of burst onto the scene some years ago with a hit single and a gold record. She didn’t sound like other modern country singers. She was more of a throwback to traditional country.

Then Julie popped up on The Voice and released a really good record. Maybe it didn’t get as much attention as everyone hoped, but it was good.

It looks like Julie was back recently with a great new song. She’s still pulling off the traditional sound as good as anyone. I really like this song.

Why Can’t I Have You – Julie Roberts

When I first turned this one on it was like I had just walked into a lonely bar in some small town and this song came on the jukebox. It’s a lonely song. It’s a sad song. It’s country through to the core.

The situation is pretty simple. The lyrics are the same, but I like it that way. We have someone that is struggling with the loss of someone. For whatever reason they can’t be with this person and they’re going through all the reasons why it just doesn’t seem to make sense.

It’s a simple lyric that leaves things open for interpretation, but that’s a good thing. It’s nothing specific and that means that listeners will be able to connect their own stories into the music.

It sounds like Julie is doing as good as ever with her music. I hope this one gets some attention.
