Here is a song that popped up on Wild Country on Spotify recently. I’m not sure if I noticed it the first time, but as I’ve been listening to the playlist I’ve been liking this one. There are some modern elements, but there are also some things that remind me of older country.
The artist is Tenille Arts. This is the first time we’ve had her music here on CML and it’s a good first impression. She has a good voice that definitely seems to have some country roots.
Let’s check this one out.
Wildfire and Whiskey – Tenille Arts
The song is about love and the feeling you get when you’re in a new love with someone. But it could also perhaps be about a love you’ve had with someone for a really long time. Some people seem to be lucky in love and in life that they can have the feeling of wildfire and whiskey with someone for their entire lives.
The song is pretty cool. It comes off at first as a typical country love song. There are some familiar images, but also some that are new and that gives the song a fresh feel, which is always good for a new artist.
The melody and groove of the song is upbeat. That’s kind of where it seems to be like something that fits in modern country while also going back to eras in the past. It kind of reminds me of a song that would fit in well in the late ’90s and early ’00s in country music.
It’s a good song. What do you think?
