John Mayer went to Montana to write his latest record. If that’s not country I don’t know what is.
John has always had the singer-songwriter feel to his music. He’s an off-shoot of that movement from the late ’60s and early ’70s. And many of today’s and even yesterday’s country singers cited those singer-songwriters as influences.
I think John fits right in with country music and he has a really good and really catchy new single. Give it a listen and see what you think.
Wildfire – John Mayer
It’s a simple love song about two people enjoying a simple day and being in love. They’re not worried about too much. They’re just kind of going with the flow and enjoying each other.
That’s kind of how it feels when you’re falling in love. You’re living in the moment. You’re only thinking about the next moment with this person that you’re feeling something special for. It feels good and it makes you forget about a lot of other things in life.
The sound is perfect too. It’s catchy, but it’s also perfect for the feeling of being in a young love. It just kind of makes you want to clap and dance around like an idiot all day.
Great song that’s funky and perfectly singer-songwriter country if you ask me.
What do you think?
