It’s always a risk for an artist to sing about topics specific to them. They talk about life on the road and songwriting. It’s risky because it’s not something everybody in the audience can relate to because they live more normal lives. But if the song is good and by that I mean it has a good story and good melody then people will like it.
This is a good story and a good song. That’s why people will like it.
The song seems to be very personal for Will. It’s about feeling hopeless during some tough times in life. In the song it’s about feeling hopeless like even if you write this next song it won’t matter because nobody is going to hear it anyway.
The unique thing about telling personal stories is that even if the story isn’t something relatable for people they will still connect with the feeling. The idea of being lonely and hopeless is something people go through. In fact, lots of people go through that feeling at some point in life. They might not be songwriters, but they do know the feeling.
I think people are going to like this song.
