I’ve been slacking the last few weeks so now it’s time to get back to something I want to do each Wednesday. We’re going to look at some of the album cuts that artists and their teams just can’t seem to find a place for as a single. There are a lot of these types of songs throughout the history of country music.
Here is one from Carrie Underwood that she recently played at the Opry.
Wine After Whiskey – Carrie Underwood
Now that is a country song. Carrie has always kind of been on the edge of pop and country, but you can’t listen to this song and not think of classic, traditional country music. The lyrics will break your heart and the vocals are top notch, which is no surprise with Carrie.
You could argue that Carrie Underwood is the greatest female country artists of all time. She just released her first Greatest Hits album, which really isn’t something done anymore these days. People can just buy their favorite songs individually.
The hits collection was put out to give Carrie some time with her growing family, which is completely understandable and appropriate. She’s kept herself in the spotlight with hit songs and hopefully she’ll be back in the future with more great albums.
Until then we can continue to enjoy all the hits she’s had over the years and some of the great album cuts including this one from the Blown Away record.
What do you think? Have you heard this one before?
