Toby Keith

Toby Keith has some solid album tracks from the last few albums.

Toby Keith has been having trouble getting to the top ten on the country singles charts the last few years.

He’s been such a staple of the charts for the last twenty years that’s it’s kind of sad to see him missing out on the top of the charts. I guess it always goes like that in country music, but I really think that Toby will come back strong with something.

In the meantime, I wanted to go back to the Hope On The Rocks album for a great album cut.

You Ain’t Alone – Toby Keith

Toby Keith had had a few songwriting partners over the years. I’m sure he’s written with a lot of people, but only a handful have really be successful. Toby will actually write entire albums with a single other writer or mostly with a single other writer.

During the early and mid ’00s that writer was Scotty Emerick. I think the two made some great music together and this track showed up on the album and I think it’s one of the forgotten good tracks from the last couple years.

The song is about a guy that’s alone. I think he’s dealing with the loss of a woman. He’s wondering if she’s alone like him. It’s kind of a sad and dark song. It reminds me of Who’s That Man, which was a smash hit for Toby in the ’90s.

I don’t know if Toby and Scotty are still writing together or if Toby pulled this one from the archives, but it’s a really cool song. You don’t hear songs like this too often anymore, but I think it had the feel of a hit.

What do you think?
