The other weekend my wife took me to a concert in Green Bay. It was an Alan Jackson concert. The first opening act was the wonderfully talented Brandy Clark. We’ve reviewed some of her songs here on the site before. But she’s mostly known for her songwriting at least at this point.
And she played one of her songs that she’s written. I knew I had heard it before so I had to google it and this was the version I first remember.
You Can Come Over – Craig Campbell
On Wednesdays I like to look at album cuts that could have been big hits. This one was on Craig’s last album and it really had some strong songs on it. But things just didn’t work out with that label and that happens sometimes.
But the sad part is that some of the great songs are often left unheard by country fans.
This song is about someone that feels this pull to someone. But that somebody keeps letting them down. Imagine you’re in a relationship and you end it…rightfully. But you still feel this pull towards the person. Maybe you’ve even been intimate with them a few times since the break up.
And you keep finding yourself wanting to be around them, but you try and stop yourself because you know it’s not good in the long run.
That’s how I take the song. It’s painful and full of emotion. Craig does an awesome job and so did Brandy.
What are your thoughts?
Have you heard this one before?
