Here is a fun one from rising star, Cole Swindell.
One of the cool things some artists have done the last several years is release a running collection of EPs each year kind of in between their normal rotation or proper studio albums.
Perhaps the best example is Luke Bryan. He’s released a new studio album about every two years. But every year he’s released an EP. It was originally the Spring Break series and now it’s the Farm series.
Cole Swindell, one of Luke’s best buddies, is following suit with the Down Home series, which is already on the third edition.
Here is the first track from the new EP.
You’ve Got My Number – Cole Swindell
These EPs seem to be a way for the artists to try something new. It’s not a proper studio album so the expectations are a little different with fans and the labels seem to be more open to the artists trying new, creative things.
That seems to be the case a bit with this first song. The sound of it is very rock. The guitars and blazing like an ’80s rock song that would have been ripping with guitars and lyrics about all the trials of love.
The story going on in this one is that a guy and a girl had a good night and now it seems like the guy is wishing that things could move forward, but the girl is really ready to move on. She was happy with just having a good time and is ready to move on.
Cole is becoming one of the stars in country music. This is another good song that kind of shows his influences.
What do you think?
